Lighthouse / Immigration Specialist
Role
We're looking for an Immigration Specialist to join our growing team at Lighthouse. In this role, you'll work directly with our customers to make U.S. visa preparation fast, accessible, while providing an exceptional experience for the world's best and brightest in the startup and technology industry.
You might be a good fit if:
- You have experience working in business immigration law, particularly confident in preparing O-1A, EB-1A, and/or EB-2 NIW visa documentation; the more visa knowledge you have, the better!
- You have strong writing skills coupled with attention to detail.
- Have high agency, especially for independent research.
- Want to learn how to design and use new AI-enabled technology products.
- You have experience working in fast paced environments.
- You will succeed in this role if you're curious about founders, startups, and technology — in areas undergoing major transformation like artificial intelligence, robotics, biotech, manufacturing, aerospace, and more — with a service focus.
Previous immigration experience or a legal background is highly preferred, particularly experienced paralegals or attorneys comfortable with case drafting and keen to leverage new technologies for this work. Previous startup experience is also welcome, but we are most interested in someone who can demonstrate the requisite skills.
Culture
- Lighthouse is a technology-led company. We frequently ask ourselves "How can we automate this?"
- We're intentionally meeting-light and work in weekly sprints, with team-wide meetings only on Monday and Fridays. We entrust you to manage your time.
- We are and seek low-ego, high-throughput people who are a pleasure to be around.
- We pride ourselves on attention to detail and ability to do "finished work" — whether it's a project, document, or code, you make it letter perfect.
- We ask why every day. We're constantly making improvements to our processes and encouraging feedback.
- Genuine interest in startups, technology, and enabling global talent to build in the U.S.
What we'll trust you to do:
Your primary focus will be supporting our customers' visa application journeys, which includes:
- Preparing and managing multiple visa applications simultaneously — we'll expect excellent project management skills.
- Conducting detailed document reviews and providing guidance to customers on process challenges.
- Guiding customers to gather the necessary information for document preparation, and maintaining clear, swift communication throughout the process.
- Identifying potential process challenges early and proposing solutions to keep application preparation processes moving forward.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our document preparation platform and internal processes based on customer feedback and operational insights.
- Maintaining detailed records and tracking application progress through our software platform for our customers.
Pay and Benefits
- We sponsor visas, obviously.
- Competitive base and equity, scales with experience.
- Health, dental, vision, 401k.
- Equipment/office stipend.
- Bi-annual team off-sites in cool places.
- In person in SF preferred, hybrid possible.
Lighthouse is an equal opportunity workplace; we welcome people from all backgrounds, communities, and experiences. To apply, email your resume and a blurb about your interest to [email protected]
